Deepak Foundation celebrated its 33rd Foundation day on October 2, 2015 with the inauguration of a new ward at the hospital in Nandesari. The event was initiated with inauguration of the new wards by Shri Madhu Srivastav (MLA, Waghodia), Mrs. Ila Mehta (Trustee), Dr. Riddhi Mehta and Smt. Archana Joshi (Director, Deepak Foundation).

As a step towards the sustainable growth of Self Help Groups, Deepak Foundation has formed the “Deep Mahila Co-operative Credit Society Limited” registered under District Registrar Office, Vadodara. This initiative provides the rural women with a recognized platform for ensuring economic independence through several saving options and development of sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Inaugration of Mobile Health Unit and Mobile Library in Roha, Raigad District

Deepak Foundation, as part of the DNL’s CSR wing, has initiated a Mobile Health Unit and Mobile Library serving the tribal population of about 45,000 residing in 25 villages surrounding the DNL plant in Roha block of Raigad district. The CSR Initiatives were inaugurated on December 18, 2015 in the presence of Shri. Umesh Asaikar (Executive Director, DNL), Mr. Sunil Desai (DNL Plant Head, Roha), Mr. Ambulkar (DNL HR Head, Roha) and other staff members of DNL and Deepak Foundation.

Deepak Foundation through its partnership with VIKSAT and under the sponsorship of Ministry of Environment and Forests ,Government of India (GoI) conducted a training program at Angadh village for the Women Dairy Cooperatives (WDCS) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) to promote organic farming and build a more sustainable and safe environment.

Health Camp in Ashram Schools of Roha, Maharashtra

The Mobile Health Unit (MHU) team at Roha organized a health camp in the ashram schools, a residential school for tribal children, within Roha block on March 11, 2016.During the camp, students, teachers and non-teaching staff members were screened for health problems. Moreover, students were instructed on nutritional intake and personal hygiene and the school was provided with an “Emergency Health Kit”.

Medical Buggy service initiated at SSG Hospital, Vadodara

In April 2016, Deepak Foundation initiated Medical Buggy facility with financial support from J M Financial and Sofotel Pvt. Ltd. at SSG Hospital. Medical Buggy provides help in transportation of patients between various service points within the hospital. This facility is being used by over 10000 people monthly. Recognizing the significance of Medical Buggy in assisting patients, Deepak foundation in collaboration with Sofotel Pvt. Ltd. on March 23, 2017, introduced two more Medical Buggies at SSG for OPD patients.

Skill Training organized for Women and Adolescent Girls of Kod Village, Madhya Pradesh

As a step towards women empowerment, a two-month long sewing skills training was organized for women & adolescent girls of Kod Village, Dhar, Madhya Pradesh from June 13 to August 13, 2017. The foundation provided basic tailoring training to 40 beneficiaries. During the training, trainees learned to stitch beautiful dresses. On the occasion of Krishna Janmasthmi, a dressmaking competition for trainees was organized. The trainees stitched lovely dress for Lord Krishna utilizing the guidelines attained during the training.

In early 2017, Deepak Foundation inked a MoU for operation and management of Samaj Suraksha Sankul for a period of 5 years. Samaj Suraksha Sankul is a home to children with special needs. As a contribution towards the welfare of children on Independence Day, August 15, 2017, an ‘Audio and Book Library’ was inaugurated by Deepak foundation at Samaj Suraksha Sankul. The library encompasses audio and Braille storybooks intended to provide educational support for visually impaired students.

Medical Buggy services initiated at Madhuban, Jharkhand

Deepak Foundation in collaboration with Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand, provides medical services to tribal communities in remote villages in Madhuban block of Giridih District, Jharkhand. On September 5, 2017, Medical Buggy was initiated to promote public health services at Madhuban-Sub-centre which was non-functional for a long time. Also, mobilized visit to the Sub-centre for diagnosis and utilization of the other welfare programs are made after arrival of Medical Buggy.

Health Awareness Session organized at Tuio Village, Jharkand to educate local population on sanitation and personal hygiene

Mobile Health Unit (MHU), Jharkhand organized an awareness session at Tuio Village on the topic of sanitation and personal hygiene on November 16, 2017. The attendees were briefed on hand washing methods before meals and after use of toilet. Hand-washing was brought to the knowledge of villager as a cost-effective intervention for prevention of diseases like Diarrhea, Typhoid, and Hepatitis etc.
