| Public Private Partnership – the Essence of the SMCS
Intervention |
|
|
The government - NGO partnership is the essence
of all our major interventions. The Foundation has signed the Memorandum
of Understanding ( MoU ) with the Government of Gujarat (GoG ) for
implementing the SMCS program in the rural and tribal areas of Vadodara,
Gujarat. |
|
DF works in tandem with the government functionaries
like Medical Officers (MO), Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) and Anganwadi workers (AWW), and strives to eliminate the bottlenecks that hinder
the effective utilization of Maternal and Child Health services
and government infrastructure like Community Health Centers (CHC),
Primary Health Centers (PHC) and Sub-Centers (SC). |
|
The outreach activities of
DF are undertaken by a pair of locally selected women - the
Village Level Health Worker (VLHW) and the Traditional Birth
Attendant (TBA) - who support the government grassroot functionaries
in health care delivery at the village level. They assist
the government ANM in conducting the ANC clinics and carry
out various other health related activities. The coordination
between the Taluka Coordinator (TC) of DF and the Block Health
Officer (BHO) is also critical for effective implementation
of program activities. The effort of government functionaries
are complemented by those of DF functionaries, as a result
of which duplication of efforts is avoided. |
|
|
Apart from the services extended by the government
and the Foundation, efforts are made to ensure community participation
in order to provide sustainability to the PPP. The government funds
allocated for the area are utilized for making available timely
and accessible health care services to the people and facilitating
the utilization of monetary and other benefits by the rightful beneficiaries
of various schemes. |
