Project Vivek Vidya®

Project Vivek Vidya is a flagship initiative of Deepak Foundation providing education services through a mobile education facility. The project aimed at supporting underprivileged government primary school children by strengthening their foundational literacy and numeracy skills. The project’s strategic interventions promote a blended learning approach, ensuring that children receive the quality inputs and remain engaged within education system and reduce the risk of school dropouts.

Presently, the project is enforcing in six regions covering three states of India, Gujarat (Nandesari, Savli, Bharuch), Maharashtra (Roha & Pune) and Telangana (Hyderabad).

The project aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to achieve the goals of the NIPUN Bharat Mission and contributes to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) – Quality Education.

While activity-based teaching sessions strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy skills among children.

Additionally, the project incorporates writing practice through workbooks, tech-enabled learning sessions, music sessions, vocational training, and environmental education to promote overall development. Beyond academics, the initiative nurtures creativity, fosters collaboration and builds character preparing children for a prosperous future.

Th project activities also engage parents, village/community members and school staff by encouraging their active participation through formation of Village Education Committee (VEC) and parent’s counselling.

Project Vivek Vidya integrates Environmental Education to create awareness, sustainable habits, and developing eco-friendly practices among students. Through outdoor learning and engaging activities like plantation, environment and climate change awareness sessions, students not only learn but also gains responsibility and a commitment to sustainability, preparing them for a healthier and greener future. Such awareness nurtures children’s social, emotional, and ethical learning, fostering empathy towards nature. Every year children across all project sites are encouraged to take responsibility towards sustainable environment and actively participate in community driven initiatives.

Project Vivek Vidya strongly focuses on empowering Vivek Vidya Sathis (local community women) by enhancing their knowledge and strengthening their skills for sustainable livelihoods which is achieved through expert-led training sessions and interactive workshops on various teaching concepts like “effective storytelling”, “literacy and numeracy” “lesson planning”, “classroom management”, “activity-based teaching” etc. Each year, over 160+ women gain valuable skills, leading to increased recognition and respect within their communities. As a result, Vivek Vidya Sathis start their own coaching initiatives, and secure part-time teaching opportunities in local schools and many of them enrol themselves to complete their further education.
