Deepak Foundation hosted a distinguished celebration of International Women’s Day under the theme “Accelerate Action to Speed Up Women’s Equality”, reaffirming its commitment to advancing gender equity and recognising women who are driving meaningful change across sectors. The event served as a platform to amplify the global call for collective action while honouring women who continue to break barriers and inspire others through their leadership and achievements.
The evening was graced by eminent dignitaries and change-makers from government, healthcare, sports, entrepreneurship, and media. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Jai Pawar, Director of Deepak Foundation, who warmly welcomed the guests and emphasised the critical role of collective responsibility in accelerating progress toward gender equality. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Smt. Usha B. Rada, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Prison, Vadodara. Trustees of Deepak Foundation, Dr. Riddhi Mehta and Dr. Ruchi Mehta, were present along with distinguished Guests of Honour including Ms. Ishika Thite, Gujarat’s first professional MMA fighter and TEDx speaker; Ms. Nisha Kumari, cyclist and mountaineer; Radio Jockey Vishwa Mohini Bhatt; and Ms. Shweta Upadhyay, Executive Director, TiE Vadodara.
Adding to the significance of the event, actors Malhar Thakar and Yukti Randheria visited and interacted with the audience, further amplifying the message of empowerment and equality.
In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, the sixth Smt. Kantaben Mehta Memorial Awards were presented to honour women change-makers who have made outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and gender equality. The awardees included Ms. Lilaben Dubhil, a rising star in Indian archery; Dr. Juin Dutta, President and Founder of Srotoshwini Trust; Ms. Somyaa Akshat, Founder of Samkhya Foundation; and Deepak Foundation’s Deep Jyot Mahila Cooperative Credit Society.
Through their courage, leadership, and commitment, these exceptional women are shaping a more inclusive and equitable future. Their journeys stand as a powerful reminder that sustained action and shared responsibility are essential to achieving lasting change.
